China’s Ministry of Commerce reported that steel exports in January 2025 rose by 12% year-on-year, reaching 7.2 million tons. Strong overseas demand, especially from Southeast Asia and the Middle East, supported the rise. Analysts warned that rising exports could trigger new trade frictions in coming months.
