EU proposes cutting steel imports by 15% as Trump tariffs bite
March 30th
The European Commission proposed reducing steel import quotas into the EU by 15% starting April, as part of a broader Steel and Metals Action Plan. The measure aims to shield European steelmakers from a possible influx of cheap diverted steel following U.S. tariffs, and includes plans to favor “melted and poured” origin rules and support long-term contracts for steel and aluminum producers.
