India imposes 12% safeguard tariff on some steel imports to curb cheap Chinese steel

India introduced a 12% safeguard duty on certain steel products for 200 days, effective April 21, 2025. The measure is designed to shield domestic producers from a surge of low-priced imports, particularly from China, which have been undercutting local manufacturers.
