U.S. announces sweeping 10% universal tariff on all imports

The U.S. government rolled out a flat 10% tariff on all imports, effective April 5, 2025. In addition, “reciprocal” tariffs ranging from 11% to 50% were imposed on selected countries. The move, dubbed “Liberation Day tariffs,” is aimed at protecting domestic industries and reducing the trade deficit.
